Flowers bloom with grace, their essence conveyed through the melody. The harmony of the senses awakens a connection to the endless cycle of all living things.
Budding, growth, transformation, rebirth… In the long river of culture, all things settle along this boundless journey. Time allows the seeds of art to sprout, bearing fragrant blossoms that fill the air.
While a blossom's time is fleeting, human connection endures. Life fades in breaths, yet its fragrance lingers in the heart. Wherever human warmth abides, culture nourishes, and there the essence of home takes root. It branches out and spreads far and wide, ultimately returning in glory to its cradle.
This immersive concert employs the motif of "Blossoms", mirroring the cycles of blooming with the rhythms of existence; within the flourishing of music lies the warmth of human sentiment, like the long river of cultural heritage flowing endlessly, unveil the "beauty" and "fragrance" of music while tracing the continuum of cultural inheritance in the timeless legacy.
The performance will be held in a specially designed four-dimensional space, integrating cross-media art, artificial intelligence, and spatial immersion technologies to deliver multi-sensory effects encompassing hearing, vision, smell, and more. Installation art, animation, lighting and fragrance intertwine, expanding the audience’s perception of the environment and creating an immersive artistic experience that showcases cross-disciplinary fusion and technologies sublimation, bringing a fresh sensation more closely aligned with audience preference.
To promote the appreciation and discussion of instruments of the Zheng’s family and revived historical instruments, the programme will present a selection of ensemble and solo works featuring instruments such as the Guzheng, Steel-string Zheng, Heptatonic Zheng, Butterfly Zheng, Yazheng, Zhu, and Konghou. The concert has specially invited the renowned composer Mr Hui Cheung-wai to create a special ensemble piece featuring Guzheng, Zhu, and Konghou. Inspired by the grace of Hong Kong's regional emblem, Bauhinia x blakeana, the composition brings audiences a truly distinctive soundscape.
Traditional Chinese music and quintessential cultural elements are integrated into the lives of many people, permeating their daily routines. Such a diverse and unique cultural heritage did not form overnight. Rather, it is the crystallization of thought, spirit, aesthetics, and perseverance, allowing it to endure and thrive throughout the long river of history. Professor Chan Ming-chi has also been invited to compose a piece inspired by the peony, the national flower of China. Through its botanical symbolism, the work conveys the profundity and breadth of the nation's cultural essence.
From the beauty of a bloom to the cycle of life, the concert theme extends from life’s stage to cultural heritage and legacy, this concert endeavors to evoke, through the imagery of "blossoms", audiences may perceive the ceaseless rhythms of nature. It is an invitation to reflect upon the significance of respecting and preserving our shared cultural heritage and history.
